Fall Book/Bake/Raffle

Many thanks to all who helped to make this year's Fall Gift Basket Raffle and Fall Book and Bake Sale a tremendous success. We exceeded last year's totals! Next year, 2010, will be the 10 Annual Gift Basket Raffle. Amazing.

So many people help with so many tasks and it always comes together.

Plus thank you to all who support the fundraiser by buying raffle tickets, donating books, coming to the book sale. A special shout out to our bakers who always come through with incredible baked goods. The baked good table sold out in record time this year.

Guitar Raffle

Do you dream of being a rock star?
Enter the Friends Electric Guitar Raffle and you could be on your way.
3D Guitar has generously donated a Silverton SS11 Revolver guitar.
Raffle Tix are on sale from July 1st through July 31st. Buy one chance for $1 or 6 chances for $5.

The guitar is on display at the library and there is also more information available.

Silent Auction

Stop by the library and look at the great items that are being offered at the Friends Silent Auction being held during the month of July. The items are on display through the 31st. There are a myriad of items to bid on, new, used, antique and hand-crafted. All items have been donated to raise funds for the many programs, materials and other funding requests for the Pembroke Public Library.

Sign up for your bid number at the front desk of the library and start bidding on some great items. Come back to check on your bid and also to see the new items that will be added during the month of July. The lucky winners with the highest final bids will be determined on July 31st.

July Book Group

Stop by on July 7th at 7 pm at the library to discuss The Great Gatsby. We'll also pick a date to view the movie starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow.

May Book Group!

Join us on May 5th at 7 pm as we discuss "Tethered" by local author Amy Mackinnon. Ms. Mackinnon is joining us for the discussion. Refreshments to be served! Register at the front desk of the library. Meeting will be held in the Community Meeting Room at the Pembroke Public Library. Come for a great discussion about a novel that takes place in a local setting. See you there!

There's still time!

There's still time to renew or join the Friends for 2009. Joining or renewing by March 15th automatically enters you into a drawing for a $50 American Express gift certificate. You can spend it anywhere- books, dinner or the movies. Many of you have renewed already and we thank you. Also, we've received many renewals with extra donations. Your contributions are greatly appreciated. All Friends membership dues and fundraising monies go towards your public library and the many programs and extras the Friends support. Thank you so much!

2009 Memberships

It's here. A new membership year. We are getting ready to mail the Friends membership renewals, and this year a new membership or renewal will automatically enter you into a raffle for one of two gift certificates or prizes. We are still working on getting the fabulous prizes. If any of you have ideas or suggestions, please let us know. What would you like to win? What would make you become a member?

A special thank you to all of you who have been members over the years and supported the Friends. We've been able to help provide many wonderful things to our library including WiFi, museum passes, best sellers and much more.

You can join or renew by completing a membership form on-line at www.pembrokepubliclibrary.org. A year long membership for an individual is only $10.

Friends February Board Meeting

The Friends February board meeting is February 3rd at 7 PM. Please join us.

We are looking for new members and new ideas. We are an all volunteer group so we all understand that everyone has other committments, and we each do what we can.

Our first agenda item is the discussion of a new fundraising idea- An on-line auction in March. We'd love to hear ideas and suggestions.
