2010 Basket Raffle

We need your help! Please consider donating a basket or asking a local business to donate one for our 10th Annual Gift Baskets Raffle. The raffle starts on October 16 and ends on November 6th, the day of the Fall Book and Bake Sale.

September Book Group

The book group is reading The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff. Come to the discussion on Tuesday, September 7th at 7 pm in the Pembroke Library's Trustee Room. Everyone is welcome! Also, let us know if you have suggestions for future reads. The November choice is The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein.

Silent Auction Success!

Thank you so much to everyone that participated in the silent auction. The auction ended on 7/31 and we made $500 more than last year. Yeah! Whoot! Whoot!

July Silent Auction

It's almost June and time to start thinking about donations to the Friends July Silent Auction. The group will begin accepting items the week of June 12th, so clean out those closets, basements or garages. New items as well as used items will be accepted.

Last year we had items such as mountain bikes, antique snowshoes, a new doll house, a new leather purse, and much, much more.

Stop by the library during the month of July to see what you would like to bid on and win. And if you can please donate an item to a great cause.

Money raised by the Friends goes right back to the community through the library.

Triva Night

A bunch of the Friends scoped out a Trivia Night fundraiser to see if would work as a potential fundraiser for the Friends of the Pembroke Library. Although our team came in second to last, we had a fantastic time. We felt that this would be a great fundraiser for the Friends and our looking for ideas for venues and when we should hold the event. Any local talent that can come up with trivia questions?

We'll make some decisions about holding this fundraiser at our June board meeting. Bring your ideas. If you are interested in helping out and being on the planning committee, please join us.

Looking for a November Book Selection

Tomorrow night is our May book group discussion. We will also choose a book for our November read. Please email or bring suggestions.

Don't forget that we will read and discuss The Help for July. The July meeting is the 13th.

May Book Group

Don't forget to join us for the discussion of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. Great discussions! Come even if you haven't finished the book.

Book Sale was great!

The Spring book and bake sale held this past April was a tremendous sucess. See pictures we've posted. We made over $1700. Thank you so much to all our bakers, to everyone who donated books and also those who came to the event. Watch for more information about our Fall Book and Bake sale and Gift Baskets Raffle.

Gift Card Winner

Congrats to Carol P. the winner of the membership renewal raffle. Carol won a $50 gift card to Kohl's. Thank you to all our members who renewed and anyone who joined. The Friends also want to thank all of you who made extra contributions to support the Pembroke Public Library.

Spring Book and Bake Sale

The Spring Book and Bake Sale is April 10th and we need your gently used books, CD's, DVD's and videos for the sale. You can drop them off at the library. We ask that the books be in good condition. No magazines or textbooks please. Your donations help us to have a fantastic book sale and raise money to support our library. Questions? Want to help? March Book Group

Join us on March 2nd to discuss Barbara Kingsolver's The Poisonwood Bible. We meet at the Pembroke Public Library. The discussion starts at 7 pm. We'll be picking reading selections for July and November. Bring your suggestions!

Friends February Board Meeting

The Friends February 2010 Board meeting is Tuesday, February 2nd at 7 pm. All Friends are welcome to attend. We'd love to have new board members with new ideas.

Join or renew your 2010 Friends of the Pembroke Library by March 15th and you are automatically entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift card.

The Friends rely on yearly membership dues as a part of their fundraising efforts. All membership dues and funds from other fundraisers help to provide many extras for the Pembroke Public Library. Your $10 individual membership or $50 business membership will help to continue the Pembroke only best sellers, museum passes, summer reading programs, music programs and much more.

The Friends of the Pembroke Library is an authorized 501-c3 non-profit organization formed to support the Pembroke Public Library. Your dues are a tax deductible contribution.
